Relevance
One of PGPs aims is to provide “short and effective channels from basic research to education, industry, and the public”. Our research products are both aimed to the international research community (publications, conferences, popular science) and at the industry (reports, seminars).
Industry relevance
Many of PGPs core activities involve the understanding of processes relevant for the petroleum industry, including CO2 sequestration. Research projects at PGP financed by The Norwegian Research Council (NRC), by EU or by the Norwegian industry are found here.
Relevance to the public
Several of PGP’s core activities relate to issues of fundamental importance to the general science-interested public. We have participated in numerous arrangements in the public domain: radio, television, newspapers and through our own popular science reporting. An updated list of activities for this year is found here.
Selection of previous commercial project led by PGP researchers:
- Petroleum Implications of Sill Intrusions. Four year project financed by major petroleum companies exploring deep-water acreage.
- FrameView. A sophisticated modeling tool for the oil and gas industry developed for Conoco during the last 10 years.
- Aluminum Extrusion. A 5 year basic research project with Hydro Aluminum to understand the governing mechanisms of extrusion and forming processes in aluminum.
